Large plot of land in a stunning location, Kouremenos, Sitia

Kouremenos is located 91 km east of Agios Nikolaos and 21 km east of Sitia, 1 km east of Palekastro. It is the longest beach in the area with a length exceeding 1.5 km and is bordered to the north by Cape Tenta, where there is a small harbor, and to the south by the hill Kastri, on which there are ruins of the Paleokastro fortress. Near the southernmost point of the bay, where it is called Plakopoules, the Kalogeropotamos estuary empties and creates a brackish marsh that has stagnant water in the summer. A little further north is the small brackish lake of Bibikos, which probably formerly formed a single entity with the Kalogeropotamos marsh, but was cut off due to human intervention.

The beach has fine brown sand, shallow waters and many tamarisk trees, while it is organized with umbrellas, showers. A characteristic of Kouremenos is the very frequent and strong wind. In fact, the wind here is consistently so strong that the place has become well-known among windsurfing and kite surfing enthusiasts internationally.
